Movie Reviews on a Stick
Tis the season to be jolly. Fa la la la la, et cetera. Christmas shopping is coming to an end, and what better way to celebrate increasing the amount of debt on your credit card than to head to the theatre and watch some movies. But instead of heartfelt, romantic comedies, and Oscar contenders, and all that, we’re watching a couple of action-packed films that will wake the audience. So, let’s head in and see a double header.
When it comes down to the facts, 300 was a visually great movie, based on a visually great graphic novel. That being said, it’s also one of the cheesiest dialogues in recent years. It’s not like you are looking for Oscar-caliber story or anything like that. It’s mindless entertainment. But it’s a fun movie. It’s a movie you can put in at any time when you want an easy movie to watch, and be entertained.
I heard about this movie a lot when it came out in 2008. It was one of those weird movies that I might like. It’s a post apocalyptic cyberpunk, which I am a huge fan of. But it’s apparently a musical, which I try to avoid. But it’s rock music that’s in the format of an opera, which shouldn’t be bad. So, I’m already torn going into it, so I try to have an open mind.
Before we start, do yourself a favour and get the Rock’em Sock’em robot jokes out of your system. I’m serious, get it all out there. Just shout them out. I don’t mind, I can wait.
This weekend was pretty busy for me, and it was a shame that Sunday was spent by me lying down, having a nasty headache. Don’t know where it came from, but looking back at the two movies I watched, I think I have a pretty good idea.
